Role Summary

You will be responsible for overseeing and challenging the identification, assessment, and mitigation of operational risks within the organisation. You will also establish and execute operational risk management framework and processes within the organisation.

You will collaborate with different departments locally and in HO outside Australia, to analyse operational processes, identify risks, and implement mitigation strategies.

Skillset Required

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science, Technology, Cybersecurity or related field.

  • Operational risk management experience within financial services, Institutional Banking or Markets will be highly regarded.

  • Experience developing and implementing organisations overarching risk framework and strategy.

  • Solid understanding of risk and control frameworks, RAS, risk policies etc.

  • Strong understanding of risk, compliance, legislative, and regulatory requirements relevant to the Banking industry, preferably Institutional Banking.

  • Strong familiarity and/or working experience with industry standards, frameworks (e.g., ISO 27001), and regulatory requirements.

  • Strong stakeholder engagement and relationship management skills, with a demonstrated ability to work with senior business and risk colleagues to drive, challenge, and influence decisions.

  • Ability to initiate and lead conversations with business leaders relating to anticipated or emerging risks and issues.

Key Accountabilities

  • Evaluate, quantify, and prioritise operational risks throughout the bank's operations and contribute to overarching risk management strategy.

  • Establish, execute, and maintain operational risk management framework, Risk Register, Breach & Incident, Risk Profiling, Risk Assurance & Risk Reporting processes.

  • Create and enact risk mitigation strategies for controlling and reducing operational risks.


  • Monitor operational risk performance and report on key risk indicators (KRIs).


  • Conduct regular assessments and controls testing to ensure the effectiveness of risk management strategies.

  • Owning management of operational risk incidents and issues and undertake activities to reduce risk exposures and manage impacts, including coordinating reviews, investigation, and remediation.

  • Collaborate with various departments to gather information, assess risks, and implement mitigation strategies, while staying informed on operational risk trends, regulatory requirements, and industry best practices.

  • Support other internal teams to oversee compliance with legislative and regulatory changes.
